Health Holidays Yukon has been established to help our guests develop a long-term joyful and healthy relationship with food and your body – dieting, self-deprivation and guilt have no room in this positive concept.

Our program is based on the fact that fighting food doesn’t work. As humans we are hardwired to enjoy feeding ourselves, a crucial strategy to insure our survival. Your health holiday will supply you with the tools that relegate hunger and appetite from being a domineering force in your life to their normal and beneficial role in your everyday eating cycle.

We acknowledge the healing power of wholesome, natural food and pleasurable physical activity, especially in the outdoors, for both body and mind. And scientific findings agree with this perspective more and more, advising against supplements in favor of a balanced diet to meet all our nutritional needs and emphasizing daily exercise. What not to expect at Health Holidays Yukon:

We are not a weight loss center or fat farm and do not promise (e.g. 9 pounds in 12 days or similar), both an unhealthy and entirely unsustainable practice. We do not believe that the quick fixes offered by so many weight loss institutions are in the best interest of our customers. It is a well-established fact that the faster you loose weight, the faster you almost always gain it back. By contrast, our program makes it possible for you to lose weight steadily and in a sustainable fashion during and after your health holiday, until you have reached your individual feel-good body weight and shape.

But if you were looking to rapidly shed weight, we do encourage you to read on regardless, and perhaps consider changing your outlook on weight loss. Peeling away unwanted layers through new healthy eating habits and activity takes more time than a crash diet on 800 calories per day, no doubt; but as you delight in the daily joys and successes along the way, however small, lifestyle change promises to turn you into a healthier, happier and leaner You for the rest of your life. How much closer to win-win can you get?

We are not a fitness spa or weight loss boot camp. While daily nature walks are an integral part of our program due to their many health and inspirational benefits, enjoyment is their foremost purpose, not adherence to a rigorous exercise regimen. We strongly believe that lasting lifestyle changes will only be sustained and turned into a routine if they make you feel good – weight loss, initially a key goal for most people, will then become a “by-product” of your pleasurable activities.

We do not sell proprietary weight loss products or supplements. Our proven concept of delicious, healthy meals and simple lifestyle changes does not require the use of such products. Creating a dependency on certain products goes against Health Holidays Yukon’s intent to help our guests empower themselves to lead their best possible lives.

Your foremost asset is the commitment to treat yourself and your body with care and respect; add to that an openness of the mind to try out new ways of living and to break unwanted habits, and you’ve got all the “products” you really need!

Environmental Practices

At HHY we endeavor to operate according to the guiding motto “Tread Gently on the Earth”. This includes recycling over 90% of household waste, composting organic waste, no use of garden pesticides and herbicides, conserving energy and other related activities. We encourage our guests to join in these efforts out of respect for the superb natural world surrounding us that is the real provider behind all the wealth we have at our disposal.
